Issue 22 - Mixtape Vol. 5

It’s our fifth Mixtape, but it’s our first guest edited issue and we are thrilled to have Melarise picking the content for you!

Melarise has picked some fresh new pixel artists as well as some fan favourites, so you are bound to find something new to stitch!

Sibuworld - What Were You Thinking

Our cover star for this issue is pixel artist Sibuworld, whose surreal approach to his craft is exemplified in this brain bending design – what was he thinking?!

From France we welcome Laurent Bazart to the family, and his bewitching design is perfect for your most mystical friends.

When paganism meets pixellation, how can you resist?

Laurent Bazart - Be Witched
marindeaudouce88 - Paella Anderson

marindeaudouce88 is another XStitch first-timer but she comes out strong with this nicely nostalgic mashup!

Can you handle the Dish of the Bay?

Melarise shares the joy of life with her contribution to the Mixtape: Illusion in its solid form!

If you have ever felt that magical moment of loving where you’re at, then this design is one for you!

Melarise - Illusion In Its Solid Form
Marina Bolmini - United Sisters of the World

Marina Bolmini returns with a design that unapologetically addresses some poignantly political issues.

It’s a shame that this point needs making once more, but we’re glad to help push the conversation!

Our fourth newcomer to the XStitch posse is Luixels, who hails from Uruguay!

This design is a throwback to the good old days of cassette tapes, and you can stitch some or all of the elements to make your own animation!

Luixels - Rewind
Mr X Stitch - Of Course You Do

Mr X Stitch is back with a retro design that is an exploration in virtue signalling.

Save time at protests with this useful slogan!

Our second Uruguayan designer in this issue is StitchyKiddo!

His backstitch and cross stitch design is the perfect gift for the fantasy fan in your world!

StitchyKiddo - Behold, Barad-dûr
SmartCrossStitch - Ukrainian Fairyland

We’re glad to have SmartCrossStitch back in the mix again!

Their Ukrainian Fairytale design is a love letter to their beloved neighbours and an understated show of solidarity.

Tiny Modernist is back with a lovely landscape that captures the rural Canadian flavour with her characteristic charm.

Why not stitch yourself this little vignette as your own secret escape?

Tiny Modernist - Nighttime Mountains
Niki McDonald - Belle of the Beach

Needlepoint ninja The Makers’ Marks channels her childhood in this Circus design!

We’ve got the design in two formats – cross stitch and tapestry – so you can scale up and work the wool if you wish!

Our fifth (!) newcomer is Spanish designer Una Buena Pieza!

Enchanted Forest IV is a wonderfully wistful vignette and we hope it’s the start of many more designs in future issues!

Una Buena Pieza - Enchanted Forest IV

You know that we’re more than just a pattern magazine though! So in this issue we’ve got an interview with Mr X Stitch, an interesting look at Les Trousseaux – a French embroidery tradition, a review of Kate Blandford‘s new book Cross Stitch or Die Tryin’, among other things!

Don’t forget all the other cool things that come as standard in our interactive digital issues!
